Poems by Helene Smith
Wars and waterfalls roar on. Sadly, weapons of massive desolation causes death to all forms of life — even water,
the wellspring of our lives.
Poems created under stress of youths recruited for archaic warfare sacrifice were written before, during and after the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq.
One poem is the Peace Hymn of the Republic, alternative lyrics for the Battle Hymn of the Republic, that do not involve any biased persuasion.
"Above all I am not concerned with poetry. My subject is War. The poetry is in the pity." — Wilfred Owen, war veteran
